Homemade Abstract Art

Last Updated:

Since moving together with my cute girlfriend approximately a year ago, we always agreed on the importance of a harmonic look and feel in our apartment. At least for me, one of the challenging things is decoration, particularly wall paintings. More often than not, I talk my way out of it because one can spend plenty of hours (even days) looking into the cellphone display to search for a suitable wall painting.

We, my girlfriend more than me, are both addicted to abstract art. While there are many abstract art paintings out there, finding one that fits the general look and feel of the apartment, is challenging. Instead of constant resignation in online shopping, my girlfriend decided to watch out for local artists in Munich, our hood. Coming back from an art gallery, she was impressed by the paintings, however, as one can expect the pricing is much higher compared to commercial off-the-self stuff. So, why not making your own abstract art?

We were both enthusiastic and watched for local painting courses. It did not take too much time, so we registered for one. It took place yesterday, a sunny spring Saturday in Munich to meet basically everyone. Our instructor was a young lady and she is a professional painter, providing art courses in her spare time. It didn’t take long for their enthusiasm to rub off on us. After a short introduction we started to get our hands dirty. We were a small group of approx. 10 participants. The whole event was a fascinating experience, everybody could decide upon a personal motive. Some people made a portrait, others tried on animals or landscapes. We decided to experiment with abstract art.

To cut a long story short, here is the result.
